High praises for Ann Cleeves

This is a book series recommendation rather than a book recommendation. I simply love the Vera Stanhope series by Ann Cleeves.

I first “met” Vera through the TV series (currently to be found on Britbox, August 2024). I love her!

And then I noticed that the intro said something about books. Tada... I found Ann Cleeves. You probably already know her if you like British mysteries. But if not, I just want to ensure you know this fantastic author.

As with most TV adaptions, the books are much better than the TV series, although they did their best, but the books are so complicated and include insights into a lot of people's thoughts. Even if the episodes are long, that is hard to do in a TV show.

So, if you've only seen the TV series, do yourself a favor and read the books! It starts with "The Crow Trap".

I loved the book, although I had to read the blurb a couple of times to make sure it was a Vera Stanhope novel, as she only appears very late in the book.
